Cory Fisher sentenced 106 years to life

Convicter molestor Cory Fisher's sentencing was continued to this morning. Fisher was found guilty of 9 counts involving sexual abuse of his stepsons and son on April 4. He was found not guilty of four counts involving inmates.

Now retired, Deputy Conflict Counsel David Lee was Fisher's attorney. He appeared pro bono today.

People requested Count 3 be dismissed before sentencing.

For Counts 1, 2, 4, 5  6, 7 and 8, Fisher was sentenced to 15 years to life. Count 9 he was sentenced to 1 year.

The defense had requested that the enhancement of multiple victims only be applied one time. That request was denied by Judge Timothy Canning.

Judge Canning said he was the trial judge. Given the number of victims and the expanse of time, he said he was going to impose the 106 years to life.

"Instead of being a productive member of the family, he ended up destroying the family."

Angela Fisher, John Doe #2 and 3 were in court. They requested their letters be read by Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads. Letters by John Doe #1 and Angela Fisher were read into the record. Both requested a no contact order. Angela Fisher cried as John Doe's letter was read.

There has been detailed testimony on this case covering the preliminary hearing and jury trial. New information in the letters was John Doe #1 talking about having flashbacks which caused difficulty during sexual intercourse during the first two years of his marriage. He also said he was self conscious about his appearance.

Angela Fisher said, "I feel like a widow." She said her children had no relationship with their grandparents and her relationship with her in laws has been strained. She said this will impact any future relationship she may have with a man.

There was a reduction of certain court fines as requested by defense. Restitution was awarded to the victims.
