Someone claiming to be technicians from out of state said they were in the area in the last couple of weeks installing wifi at the Humboldt jail. They said they are returning this week or early next week with laptops for the inmates.
This is what these people told more than one person and at least one business in Humboldt. I told my sources if these guys come back, then ask them to respond to what HCSO told me and who they are working with in Humboldt.
I ontacted HCSO PIO Samantha Karges for more information. She responded, "This information is false. This is not a project we are working on or implementing in the jail."
There was this article in 2022 about CDCR and free wifi tablets .
https://prisonjournalismproject.org/2022/01/14/free-wi-fi-tablets-change-prison-dynamics/
"On Aug. 10, 2021, Valley State Prison (VSP) in Chowchilla, California, became the first to provide free Global Tel Link (GTL) Wi-Fi tablets to its incarcerated population."
"Earlier in February, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation had said it entered into a contract with GTL to expand free tablet and kiosk access and reduce phone rates."
