I had already reported a few times that Meara Hattan was acting CEO while former CEO Kim Bartleson was on leave. When Bartleson suddenly resigned, it was a no brainer who would be the new CEO. The press release issued a few minutes ago was inevitable and hardly a surprise.

Humboldt Superior Court Press Release:

Presiding Judge Gregory J. Kreis announced today, “The Court is happy to announce the appointment of Meara Hattan to the position of CEO. Ms. Hattan rose to the occasion when called upon to serve the court as the Acting CEO over the last six months, and the Board of Judges agreed that her experience in and around the court system, her relationship with staff and within the community, coupled with her ability to prioritize court interests make her the perfect candidate to lead the administration of the court.”

Meara has over 20 years of public service employment. Prior to her work with the Court shepreviously worked for the Humboldt County Mental Health Department as well as the Humboldt County Probation Department. She has long standing ties to our community and has established and maintained strong professional relationships both within and outside of the public sector and recognizes the importance of the relationship between the County, the Court, and our local justice partners as well as the importance of our commitment to the public we serve.

In accepting the CEO position, Meara stated, “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the Court and the public and I look forward to collaborating with our staff and our community partners to enhance and improve the services our Court provides”.
