Casey Russo did not give up on Ewa Misztal and 7 years later she is getting outpatient treatment

After two years of trying and objection by the People, Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo was finally successful in getting the court order to get Ewa Misztal placed on outpatient treatment. Misztal was sent to the State Hospital. This is a 2016 case. In 2018, Misztal
pleaded guilty to two added counts; voluntary manslaughter as well as child endangerment and abuse.

Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer is the prosecutor for this case. Deputy DA Whitney Timm appeared on the case yesterday. Review/status of placement for outpatient treatment is scheduled for  6/13.
