EPD applied for and was granted a two year gun violence restraining order against James Albert Leach. Criminal proceedings had been suspended in two of Leach's cases after defense declared doubt, one from HCSO and the other from EPD. Alleged victims include local attorney Allison Jackson in the HCSO case and local dentist Jeff Holland. in the EPD case. Leach was also involved in a standoff with EPD on 5th street.
I have done extensive prior coverage on Leach's cases, including information from the search warrant. In my April 2023 post, I wrote Leach has been arrested for the fourth time in 5 months. That post has some updates.
On 5/22, after Deputy District Attorney Trent Timm and Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo stipulated to Dr. Kevin Kelly's report at a PC 1368.1 probable cause hearing, criminal proceedings were reinstated by Judge Joyce Hinrichs.
5/30 date was vacated. Preliminary hearing is on 6/1.
