Convicted felon booked for attempted murder also charged with possession of fentanyl and firearm enhancements

Convicted felon James Atkins was booked on two counts of attempted murder but additional charges were expected to be filed. The DA charged Atkins with 6 additional counts including firearm charges and possession of fentanyl. The two attempted murder charges have special allegations.

Atkins was arraigned on 5/15. Public Defender's office was appointed. OR/bail on 5/17. Preliminary hearing on 5/25.






5/17: OR/bail Supervised release withdrawn by defense without prejudice.

5/25: Preliminary hearing continued by defense to 6/22 due to discovery. TE could be 1/2 day, more likely 1 full day.

6/22: Preliminary hearing continued by defense to 8/23.

8/23: Third continuance by defense stating outstanding medical records and additional review of discovery . Prelim rescheduled to 10/9.
