"Eureka Townhouse Hospitality and their attorney  are exploiting the disparity of parties and the pandemic."

Eureka Townhouse Hospitality is appealing a ruling from the State Labor Commission involving a former employee Candice Knight. The amount Eureka Townhouse Hospitality have been ordered to pay is 156,626.91.

Mr. David Nims represents Knight. Ms.  Vanessa Negrete represents Magan Natha and Eureka Townhouse Hospitality. She was a no show today.

Mr. Nims said that the offer to mediate was declined by Ms. Negrete. There was no response to the demand letter requested by Ms. Negrete. No response to the request for depositions.

Judge Kelly Neel asked Mr. Nims when he last heard from Ms. Negrete. He said 30 days ago.

"Ms. Knight was awarded a substantial amount," said Mr. Nims. He said "Eureka Townhouse Hospitality and their attorney  are exploiting the disparity of parties and the pandemic."

Mr. Nims asked for trial dates to be set. Judge Neel said that Ms. Negrete "has always been here" and scheduled trial setting on September 14. Notice will be sent by the clerk to Ms. Negrete.

Judge Neel also pointed out that several schedule delays were due to Knight's prior counsel, Mr. Michael Acosta.

The Nathas and Eureka Townhouse Hospitality have a lot of money and properties. They recently had construction done at the Super 8 motel. Kudos to Mr. Nims calling out the predatory behavior of the corrupt and wealthy in Humboldt.

Just like several other court cases and news, the rest of the media has ignored this story.
