Despite the People's objection and a protective order, a pregnant O' Shaughnessy released on OR

Sherae O'Shaughnessy was arraigned this afternoon on one misdemeanor charge of battery committed against a spouse." She was served with a protective order.

Dressed in a blue jumpsuit, O'Shaughnessy was very somber and whispered her responses. The Public Defender's office was appointed to represent her. Mr. Marek Reavis was in court and spoke with O'Shaughnessy.

"The People object to her release," said Mr. Reavis. He asked Judge Lawrence Killoran to release O'Shaughnessy on OR saying she had a light criminal history, she was in her second trimester and has been taking courses in domestic violence. Documentation of the pregnancy was provided to the Court.

Deputy District Attorney Adrian Kamada was in court for the People. He mentioned a DUI in 2014 as part of O'Shaughnessy's record. "The victim suffered a scratch on his face. The defendant grabbed his throat and kicked the victim."

Mr. Kamada asked Judge Killoran to deny OR "but it is appropriate to get an assessment from probation and to see if the defendant has another place to stay that is not near the victim."

Mr. Reavis said O'Shaughnessy had another place to stay. Judge Killoran released her on OR She is to obey all laws and abide by the restraining order.

Initially, time was not waived but after O'Shaughnessy was released from custody, a time waiver was entered. Trial confirmation was scheduled for March 17; jury trial on April 27.

Alleged victim is Mark Ryan Bacerra. From his Facebook photo, I believe he was the soft spoken man who told Courthouse security, " I am here for a loved one who has court."
