The day of his trial confirmation Patrick McTigue claims he is indigent and needs a public defender

Trial confirmation was scheduled for former Humboldt County Building and Planning Department employee Patrick McTigue. He has been charged with 15 counts for his jury trial which is scheduled for February 10.

Deputy District Attorney Trent Timm appeared in court today for Mr. Adrian Kamada who is the prosecutor for this case. Mr. Neal Sanders is McTigue's attorney.

Mr. Sanders filed a motion to withdraw as McTigue's attorney. He said McTigue has no income and needs a public defender appointed.

Judge Kaleb Cockrum said while McTigue has the right to a public defender if he is indigent, he has to do so in a timely manner, pointing out today is trial confirmation. A new attorney means a delay in trial.

Mr. Sanders was allowed to withdraw as counsel. The Public Defender's was appointed for McTigue.

Confirmation of counsel is on 2/4, trial confirmation is on April 21 and jury trial is on May 11.
