Not only does he get a plea deal but instead of prison, Judge Wilson has already indicated he would grant Waters probation

Jury trial was scheduled to start on January 13 for attempted murder suspect Danny Waters. He was charged with attempted murder, criminal threats and assault.

This morning after judicial intervention, the case resolved. Waters entered a guilty plea to Count 2, criminal threats and admitted the special allegation of using a firearm in the commission of the crime. The other charges were dismissed.

"The exposure is 13 years," said  Deputy District Attorney Steven Steward. "This is an open plea. The People are not agreeing to probation."

"I have already indicated I would be willing to give you probation," said Judge Wilson. "I would sentence you to 13 years and suspend that sentence and you would be eligible for probation." Judge Wilson said that if probation recommends no probation, Waters can take his plea back.

Deputy Public Defender Luke Brownfield is Water's attorney. Sentencing is February 5.
