Thomas Harwood trial scheduled for DUI, assaulting his girlfriend, son, another minor and more

(HCSO booking photo)

Thomas Vernon Harwood of Redway was arrested on April 2, 2018 and booked. He posted bail and is out of custody.

Harwood is charged with five misdemeanor counts.

Count 1 is DUI. Count 2 is having a blood alcohol level of .08% or more. Count 3 is battery; the alleged victim is Harwood's former girlfriend who was in the car at the time of the alleged assault. Count 4 is child abuse; John Doe is Harwood's son and Jane Doe is a female minor who was in the car. Count 5 is interference with wireless communication
device.

According to one of the sources I spoke with, Harwood allegedly threw away his son's cell phone while the son was trying to call 911.The same source said Harwood was "driving drunk, smacked his girlfriend and son."

Another source said Harwood's former girlfriend requested a temporary restraining order at the site of the incident. When officers arrived, Harwood was still "attacking his girlfriend and son and officers had to restrain him." According to this source, that information was captured on dash cam.

According to Redway "grapevine" and sources who contacted me, Harwood is allegedly bragging that he is not getting in trouble. Concerned community members as well as alleged victims were referred to me as someone who could help with getting information about the case and as someone who would cover this case.

Since the post appeared, at least three people have confirmed Harwood is the owner of Redway Garden and feed. Jane Doe's mother linked this post and added a comment. Since it is now public, she told me that Harwood punched her 12 year old in the face. Her daughter had the officer call her father from the scene.

Trial confirmation is on January 14. Jury trial is on January 27. Harwood's attorney is Mr. Michael Robinson. He is the attorney for murder suspect Brian Leiteritz and  represented convicted molestor Andrew Cunningham. Mr. Robinson was the attorney for Randall Cook who plead to child endangerment but originally faced more serious charges.
