Owner of Redway Garden and Feed rejects plea offer from the People

Jury trial for the owner of Redway Garden and Feed owner Thomas Harwood was scheduled for January 27. It has been continued to February 4 in Courtroom 1 and assigned  to Judge Timothy Canning.

Deputy District Attorney Jessica Acosta and Harwood's attorney, Mr. Michael Robinson met with Judge Cockrum in chambers. No resolution was reached. Mr. Robinson called the People's offer to reduce Count 1 to a "wet and reckless" and plead guilty to either Count 3 or 4 "not acceptable."

Harwood is charged with five misdemeanor counts.

Count 1 is DUI. Count 2 is having a blood alcohol level of .08% or more. Count 3 is battery; the alleged victim is Harwood's former girlfriend who was in the car at the time of the alleged assault. Count 4 is child abuse; John Doe is Harwood's son and Jane Doe is a female minor who was in the car. Count 5 is interference with wireless communication
device.

Harwood also had another case on calendar with alleged violations of Fish and Game codes. He has a codefendant in that case. A possible resolution was suggested by the defense in that case which involves fines anda deferred entry of judgement.
