So far, the defense witnesses have helped the prosecution case

The first defense witness in the David Kobak case was Eureka Police Department Officer Brian Ross. Currently, his regular beat is Old Town.

Officer Ross was one of the officers who responded to the crime scene on August 25, 2017. He transported Kobak to EPD for the interview, St. Joe's for a blood draw, then to the jail. His testimony corroborated what Det. Amber Cosetti testified about earlier.

The second witness was Jyoti Malik, a senior criminalist with the CA DOJ who testified about Kobak's blood level. Her testimony  corroborated Officer Ross' testimony. Both were brief. Their testimony helped the prosecution more than defense.

Then David Kobak took the stand. Due to "witness issues", People did not cross examine him yet.

Instead, the defense called Stan Rappe who knew both Kobak and Loftus. Once Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm cross examined him, things backfired for the defense.

The last defense today was Cheri Keel, Kobak's girlfriend. She is subject to recall. Whether her testimony will be beneficial for the defense or prosecution remains to be seen.
