Drunk in public jury trial bumps homicide preliminary hearing

Preliminary hearing for Opera Alley murder suspect Connor Whited was scheduled on January 9.

As I previously reported, whether this preliminary would proceed depended on whether Whited's attorney would be available.

Deputy Conflict Counsel April Van Dyke is currently in a jury trial. The defendant in that trial is charged with being drunk in public.

The defense filed a motion to exclude statements which is scheduled to be heard before the preliminary hearing.

Whited is charged with the murder of Brett Keiling and a special allegation that he used a deadly weapon; a club.

Deputy District Attorney Adrian Kamada is the prosecutor for the case.

Intervention is on February 24; preliminary hearing is on February 26.

I was the only one at the crime scene while evidence was being collected and detectives were on scene. I broke the story and had exclusive coverage on the scene.
