"I fucked up. It's my fault"

The very solid, credible and professional testimony of Eureka Police Department continued with EPD Senior Detective Ron Harpham taking the stand this afternoon in the David Kobak jury trial.

After Det. Harpham answered questions and testified about his interview at EPD with Kobak, jurors got to see the video of the interview at EPD. This is the same evening he shot Loftus.

Jurors got to see Kobak slur his words, laugh while being interviewed, confess more than once that it was his fault, he shot Loftus but he said fuck so many times, I lost count. Kobak says he is going to prison.

"The guy I shot? Fred Loftus." He tells Det. Harpham he had "10-12 beers and a couple of shots whatever."

Throughout the interview, Kobak says, " What a fucking mess", "I fucked up. I got no details", "I fucked up. It's my fault" and " I don't want to talk about it anymore."

Det. Harpham tested Kobak's hand for gun residue and took photos of him.

When he is sitting alone in the interview room, Kobak says, "Fuck, fuck, fuck, please Jesus."

Not only has the testimony and footage so far corroborated Deputy District Attorney Whitney Timm's testimony, it refuted a statement made in Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo's opening statement. After giving Kobak a breathlyzer, Det. Harpham offered him water or coffee.

Det. Harpham is still on the stand. Jurors still have to finish watching the video.  With Kobak's words being key to both prosecution and defense, Det. Harpham should be on the stand for most, if not all day tomorrow.
