Convicted sex offender, violated his parole in 2019, arrested again

Convicted sex offender Benjamin Johnston who has already violated parole once in June 2019 was arrested yesterday for violation of parole, PC 3000.08(c). He is currently being held on a no bond status.

I checked his Humboldt Superior Court record.

The Megan's Law photo is old.

The other one above is a more accurate representation of what he looks like now.

He hangs around my apartment complex on 6th Street with another convicted sex offender who was convicted of the same crime in the same year. Johnston claims to be a "caregiver." Some of Johnston's "buddies" who live at the apartment complex are fine with both sex offenders and defend them.

This is a problem created by California laws where  Eureka apartment complexes are full of sex offenders and if there happen to be children around, oh well. California laws do more to protect and make sure pedophiles and perverts get housed, employed and violations rarely have consequences thanks to Prop 47 and similar criminal justice reforms. I have linked some of the posts I have done on California and sex offenders.

Convicted sex offender and transient Randy Knopf had multiple violations before he got prison time. Will a Humboldt Superior Court Judge give Johnston a slap on the wrist again or protect the community?
