Yesterday ended the Fortuna Police Department’s “No Shave November” fundraising event. During the month of November, department staff were given the opportunity to grow out their beards to raise money for a local child undergoing cancer treatments.
Four-year-old Fortuna resident “Stevi” was diagnosed with ALL B-Cell Leukemia in September of this year and currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments in San Francisco.
“A couple of our officers heard about Stevi and wanted to help her and her family” said Chief Dobberstein.
During the event, the department raised $485.00 for Stevi and the Fortuna Police Employees’ Association contributed an additional $515.00. “Stevi, our members are glad that we can help and wish you a speedy recovery” said FPEA President Charles Ellebrecht
Today, the department presented Stevi and her mother the $1000.00 along with a gift basket.
