Since when is scheduling and availability a confidential discussion?

(Pease)

(Hutson)

Since when is scheduling and court availability a confidential discussion? That information can be stated in open court and courtroom availability is something that is stated in court all the time. Today, attorneys had to "approach the bench."

I seriously doubt that Judge Kaleb Cockrum was behind this secrecy. If he is, then he can explain why. More likely, the orders came from above him. The same three people in charge of Humboldt Superior Court decisions who I have called out repeatedly about the disaster in scheduling and other issues.

There were mysterious whispers about information given to attorneys that needed to be discussed in this co-defendant case. Prior to that, Judge Cockrum told Deputy Conflict Counsel April Van Dyke "in code" that  nothing has changed on another case. The case was called and recalled three times and finally Judge Cockrum said something about another homicide preliminary and that the Court was not available in June but dates from  August 2 to 20.

Changes happen right away when I call people and issues out. The rest of the media, the public, all businesses and community benefit yet most of you cannot be bothered to get up and contribute yourselves. For 18 plus years, it is the same people and businesses speaking up and taking risks.

The rest of the lameass local media sits silent. They never challenge the local courts or the County or the cities or any establishment for transparency and accountability. ABC7 Bay Area is good example of local reporting. Individuals, businesses and anyone with a brain and guts in Humboldt to stand up to the system has to constantly fight and advocate alone.

Preliminary hearing for homicide suspects Ian Pease and Travontae Hutson was rescheduled for May 18 due to discovery. It was reset again for August 10, 11 and 12 for "time certain" but "it could be bumped" said Judge Cockrum  because it is time waived

Ms. Kathleen Bryson represents Pease. Mr. Zachary Curtis  is the attorney for Travontae Hutson. Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer is the prosecutor.

Pease was present. Hutson's appearance was waived.

Victim is Perry Bailey.
