Adrienne, your family cares and you are not alone

I got a call today from an East Coast number. I ignored it. Someone was very persistent. Finally, they left a voicemail. I had received what seem liked a spam email earlier. After the message, I realized this email was connected to a case I covered.

"Hi I'm not sure if this is a voicemail. You did a blog on Adrianne Murphy. We've been searching for her for years. Her son and daughter have been searching for her we honestly thought she was dead. If somebody could please contact me and let me know where she is. That would be amazing. My number is (redacted for privacy). My name is Samantha and Adrianne is married to my cousin Sean Murphy and we really need to talk to her about her children."

This email is similar to several I receive regularly.  I have the family's permission to share the message.

This is an opportunity to see a different side of Adrienne Murphy.

I referred them to Conflict Counsel. I spoke with them and offered them suggestions and resources. I am sharing this post so if Adrienne Murphy or someone who knows her whereabouts will have her call home or give me information I can pass to the family.

Covering courts and from my own experience of being here almost two decades, I know how Humboldt can affect, change and devastate people and affect their lives.

I cover cases that others do not. I do not pick my cases based on headlines. I don't do it so I can pretend to cover courts for a random hearing here or there.

Over the years, I get many calls and emails from all over the country. I have helped many people that include family, friends, victims, defendants, law enforcement, local, regional and national media.

Even people I covered in court thank me, like me, reach out to me. Some do change their lives. I was walking by the library last month and heard someone say,"Mr. Chiv, how are you?" I turned around and tried to place the familiar face.

"The last time you saw me, I was in orange," he said. Now he has his own construction business. I told him to contact me so I could share how he turned his life around.

I do not share all those calls and emails, the compliments and thanks. The value of my blog is evident from the lives this blog touches. I speak up for many who have experienced pain, injustice, harassment and retaliation. The information on thos blog is effective and it gets results.

I started this blog due a tragedy that shook the core of this community and to help people. It is a passion. I thank God for the courage and strenth.

To my advertisers, supporters and loyal readers. You are a vital part of this blog and my success. I pray that we can bring hope to this family and that Adrienne Murphy starts a whole new chapter in her life.
