Bear River homicide suspect Mauricio Johnson was booked into the Humboldt County jail yesterday on a no bail status.
No bail status remains for now. Johnson entered a 10 day time waiver. After discovery is provided, Ms. Andrea Sullivan, Johnson's attorney, reserved the right to file a bail motion.
Preliminary is scheduled for July 1. That might chane because the time estimate for the case may be adjusted later.
Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees is the prosecutor assigned to the case. He saif the time estimate could be "a morning or multiple days."
Since Ms. Sullivan has not received discovery, for scheduling purposes, she said 1 full day, for now.
Both Ms. Sullivan and Mr. Rees are scheduled to start a trial in June. Ms. Sullivan and Mr. Rees would talk about a dark day to accomodate this trial.
I reported in February, Johnson had been charged with three counts of murder; one special allegation of personally and intentionally discharging a firearm causing great bodily injury/death and one special allegation of multiple murder. Those are the charges in Humboldt.
