Del Norte Judge denies motion to recuse Judge Cockrum from Jason Smith case

Jason Smith will resume but jurors will not be back until Tuesday. There are two trials already going on; one with jury selection so the "jury box" space is full. There are several motions that will be heard tomorrow.

The 170.1 filed by defense against Judge Kaleb Cockrum was denied by a Del Norte Superior Court Judge. Deputy Conflict Counsel April Van Dyke said she does not "plan to writ the ruling." A disqualification has been filed against Judge Cockrum by the defense in two of Smith's three misdemeanor cases.

All other motions mentioned in the previous posts will be addressed tomorrow. Deputy District Attorney David Moutrie was present with Deputy DA Trent Timm today in court.
