To the kind person who sent me this note. Thank you.

To the kind person who sent me this note. Thank you. It was unexpected but a sign from the universe and from God. When I get such a note or email or text or phone call, it is always on a day when I need it the most.

To all who express similar sentiments on a regular basis, I appreciate all of you. The greatest compliment you give me is that you read me every day; some of you several times. In today's instant world, dedicated loyal readers is something money cannot buy.  Loyalty is something money cannot buy; it is earned.

Humboldt can be a very challenging place to make a living. Add to that PG and E safety shutoffs, wildfires and now COVID 19.

It is definitely not the place for an independent news reporter with integrity who is willing to take on corruption and decades of entrenched systems as well as wealthy, generational families to be treated fairly and given a fair chance to earn a living .

I appreciate every text, email, phone call and in person thank yous and encouragement. In the last 6 years, there have been many people that tell me, I want to donate or subscribe. Those have followed through are less than a handful. This post is to thank all those in the past but most of all the person whose note I received today. There isn't anything stopping anyone from doing the same. These people just did it.

It isn't about the money or the amount. Those that have don't have money to spare are the ones who have come through. Their gesture means even more for that reason. They have not asked for anything in return.

Financially, those I expose, those who cannot handle the truth and others who cannot deal with a real news source have done all they can to shut me down. Tried to destroy my blog and my business with lies and gossip.

My readers and my supporters have been harassed,  had their comments removed. I have been targeted and so have people who support me. Other local media copy my ideas, attempt to copy my style and vision. I am here because I provide something you do not for my readers and advertisers. Let's see if you could be as successful while handling the challenges I have faced daily, for years, professionally and personally in Humboldt.

There isn't a single person in Humboldt who has not benefitted from my blog, my community service and my political work before this blog.

I do what I do because it is my passion. I provide value and am an excellent news source. There will be more options in the future to subscribe, be a patron and advertise. The people who didn't ask for anything are already on that list.

I don't have a paywall. I don't have corporate funders to subsidize when local dollars dry up. I get advertising because I earn it with results. I don't stroke egos or ignore news that is inconvenient to get advertisers or funding.

This blog is a voice for all people. Every single dollar I earn goes into bringing you information.

As I wrote in the Joshua Cooley post, I will continue to provide news. However, there are changes, effective today. When I started this blog, no one knew what a success it would be. And as it grows more successful and it has beyond Humboldt, the people who will have my gratitude, time and loyalty are the people who invest in me, stand up for me, and care. People who do without asking, without wanting anything and that includes my advertisers who support independent reporting.

There are events, parties, people I don't hang out with or associate with and it is my choice. I don't need to impress anyone, be seen with anyone or need approval. I am blessed and the only constant in my life is my Savior and the only one whose opinion that matters to me.
