Louie Meyers arrested for illegal debris burn

On October 28, 2020, the CAL FIRE Humboldt- Del Norte Unit responded to a vegetation fire located on Highway 169 in the community of Johnsons.

Numerous resources from multiple agencies assisted CAL FIRE with the suppression efforts.  As a result of the fire, two structures and a commercial vehicle were destroyed.  The fire was determined to be caused by an escaped illegal debris burn.

The CAL FIRE Humboldt - Del Norte Unit would like to remind the public the burn suspension is still in effect. While cooler temperatures have become more prevalent, heavier vegetative fuels remain critically dry due to the lack of precipitation and will continue to carry fire.

The CAL FIRE Humboldt- Del Norte Unit and Northcoast Unified Air Quality Management District will advise the public when the burn suspension is lifted.
