Steve Wright's malpractice suit case against local attorney Andrew Stunich had a hearing on September 4 and the most recent one on October 9.
I am not always able to watch every hearing. Whether I watch the hearing or not, I have communicated with Wright and anything he has conveyed to me has been verified. Stunich has refused to respond to this case except for some initial remarks.
After the September hearing, Wright told me, "The Bar complaint against Stunich how has be reassigned to the sixth investigator. This complaint with supporting documents from us is over 1.5 inches thick, plus what ever Stunich added. Six different investigators is a huge waste of time, energy and a major reason the complaint is just sitting."
Stunich already has a conviction which resulted from him carrying a loaded firearm into the courthouse. I have previously reported that word is he is closing his law practice.
Wright said he was given the wrong information about the courtroom and the case was moved to another department for the September hearing. This is happening more frequently since access has been restricted to the second floor due to COVID 19 and at the last minute. Newsom and Public Health need to get their act together because this indefinite closure has serious consequences for people's constitutional rights and due process.
Wright does not live locally and that makes it more difficult for him, people in his situation and out of area attorneys to get information.
"The last motion to compel ruling required him to provide full discovery and pay $340 by Sept 14. Needless to say, nothing," said Wright.
Stunich was a no show on October 9. Wright found out several Judges recusing themselves from the case, yesterday the case had was heard in Courtroom 1.
Wright said Stunich was found in contempt and set a sentencing hearing for Nov 13 at 1:45 in Dept 4.
