Rio Dell Police Department Sgt. John Beauchaine was the People's first witness.
During questioning by Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer, he testified about the crime log, securing scene, identifying photos from the crime scene . More details but a lot of this has been covered during the preliminary hearing and I am not covering it, again. There were no intact bullets or bullet casings found. There was a bullet that struck the front door of 70 Monument Road.
Ms. Andrea Sullivan did a very brief cross examination. Jeep windows were not damaged, no broken windows at 70 monument Road. Regarding the broken glass, she got Sgt. Beachaine to admit that he did not immediately identify it coming from broken car windows.
Between each witness, court cleaning staff has to sanitize, so the courtroom is closed for break.
HCSO evidence technician Andrew Campbell is the second witness. He did a walkthrough, photographed the crime scene. He used a 3D scanner and presented what he developed to the jurors.
During cross examination, Ms. Sullivan brought up the accuracy of his presentation. He acknowledged he got second hand information from others that a homicide had occurred. The shooting happened during the day, his presentation depicted night time or when it was dark. Some vehicles were on the scene prior to his arrival but were placed in his report.
Due to technical issues, jury broke early for lunch at 11:40. Campbell returned to the stand after lunch. He identifird photos from the crime scene including the blue Jeep Liberty, copper jacketing, Johnny Renfro's wallet. During cross, he told Ms. Sullivan that he was present at Renfro's autopsy conducted by Dr. Mark Super but he was not at St. Joseph's hospital.
