"There is a good reason that the county took away his peace officer powers when he worked for code enforcement. I can't believe he ever passed a background check."

"There is a good reason that the county took away his peace officer powers when he worked for code enforcement. I can't believe he ever passed a background check."

He did work for the County.  I am not going to waste too much time following up on whether his peace officer powers were taken away or not. I did reach out to the County.

It is irrelevant. He isn't at the County. He is now the Rio Dell police chief. His behavior in court spoke volumes. The fact that he has issued no apology for his unprofessional behavior speaks volumes about his character and his current employer. His behavior in court and this investigation shows the out of control, local abuse of power that exists on many levels and the tolerance by locals of this kind of behavior.

We all know Humboldt County, in general, just moves people around in law enforcement and as for background checks, I have two words: David Marcus.

A simple google search shows up Humboldt County Code Enforcement officer Jeff Conner in various media articles with his photo.
