Jurors won't hear about Johnny Renfro's toxicology report and criminal history of the woman who last spoke to him

(Johnny Renfro)

Before testimony this morning, Judge Kelly Neel ruled on people's motions to exclude certain evidence.

Defense did not object to the toxicology report or the criminal history of Stevanie Smith being excluded which includes an out of state charge and Smith's dealings in the local marijuana industry. The out of state charge would be a simple possession charge in California. Smith is the last person who spoke with Johnny Renfro.

Smith also admitted to Rio Dell Police Chief Jeff Conner on body camera that Renfro was bipolar/schizophrenic.

While Ms. Sullivan agreed not to get into the bipolar/schizophrenia information from Smith when she appears for the People, defense will recall her after Demetrius Coleman testifies. Another male witness has also commented that Renfro was bipolar/schizophrenic.

We spent more time on what Smith wont be asked then the time she spent on the stand. The main purpose of her testimony, according to Ms. Schaffer is about her phone call with Renfro.
