Does postponement of Jovan Ignjatovic's preliminary hearing for controlled substances and illegal marijuana cultivation have any connection to the Demetrius Coleman murder trial?

Right now individual jurors are being questioned in murder suspect Demetrius Coleman's case. During the preliminary hearing for the case, one of the names that came up was Jovan Ignjatovic.

He is Regina Osenbaugh's husband. They will most likely be prosecution witnesses in the Coleman case. While they denied being involved in a marijuana deal with Coleman, different information was given to the Rio Dell police department. Rio Dell PD was given information that Ignjatovic cleaned out a car involved in the case.

Today, a preliminary hearing in a 2018 case for Ignjatovic was put over to January 13 at the request of his defense attorney, Russ Clanton. Ignjatovic is out of custody and appeared via Zoom.

Ignjatovic is charged with HS 11366.5 (a), HS 11358 (d) (3) (c) and HS 11358 (d) (3) (g).

11366.5. (a)  Any person who has under his or her management or control any building, room, space, or enclosure, either as an owner, lessee, agent, employee, or mortgagee, who knowingly rents, leases, or makes available for use, with or without compensation, the building, room, space, or enclosure for the purpose of unlawfully manufacturing, storing, or distributing any controlled substance for sale or distribution shall be punished by imprisonment in the county jail for not more than one year, or pursuant to subdivision (h) of Section 1170 of the Penal Code.

11358 (d) (3) (c) Each person 18 years of age or over who plants, cultivates, harvests, dries, or processes more than six living cannabis plants shall be punished by imprisonment in a county jail for a period of not more than six months or by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500), or by both that fine and imprisonment.

HS 11358 (d) (3) (g) illegal cultivation of marijuana charge.

His codefendants in the case both entered a plea and resolved their cases for misdemeanors. From what Judge Kaleb Cockrum said today, these codefendants will just be booked and released. Does not sound like they will get any jail time.

By January 2021, the Coleman trial will have concluded.
