Fourth time defense effort to reduce bail or get Alma Ahumadamendoza released is denied

A hearing on a written motion regarding bail for Alma Ahumadamendoza took place today.

Mr. David Celli is Ahumadamendoza's attorney. For the fourth time, the defense request was denied. It was denied without prejudice by Judge Christopher Wilson. It was denied the last time by Judge Kaleb Cockrum without prejudice and twice before that Judge Lawrence Killoran denied her release.

Judge Wilson put these rulings on record and mentioned that Ahumadamendoza had to be extradited back to Humboldt.

Mr. Celli's arguments were the same that he has mentioned before. The only new information we learned was that Ahumadamendoza spoke to Deputy Public Defender Casey Russo when she called the Public Defender's office and that she spoke to a friend who is in a relationship with a Rio Dell police officer. Her family lives near the Courthouse.

Deputy District Attorney Carolyn Schaffer said that Ahumadamendoza gave a false name when she was stopped in Idaho en route to North Dakota. She was a suspect at that time.

Judge Christopher Wilson urged the attorneys to work on an agreement that could lead to her release.

"We don't have coronavirus cases in the jail," said Judge Wilson. If that changes, "the Court can reconsider."

I have covered the previous hearings and attorney arguments in detail more than once and the previous post is linked below.
