Hensel's Ace Hardware employee feeling sick told "we are not required to hold jobs"

This morning a regular reader of mine contacted me and said that her sister called into Hensel's Ace Hardware Ace in Arcata and spoke to her boss Ceva. The employee was feeling sick, her eyes were puffy and explained why she didn't want to come into work. She was told the business wasn't going to hold her job.

There were also some texts exchanged. I called Hensel's and had to leave message for Ceva Courtemanche. At 6 p.m. Courtemanche responded on my Facebook page.

"I appreciate everyone on here’s support. We are very very overly supportive of our team at Hensels Ace Hardware. Our leadership team has been amazing  with everyone working with us. There is definitely a back story and I appreciate this community in all these responses I see here. We have a team to take care who are working their tail ends off and We have to hire team members who can work so my frontline team is not feeling overwhelmed. This was expressed to all the team. It’s not personal. We would definitely have anyone back as long as they can let us know when they are ready . The communication goes both ways. Thank you all and this is the only statement I can make because we chose to be positive and look to support everyone no matter what.

Two of the texts.

The COVID tip line was called and report was made.
