COVID 19 community testing site will initially focus on testing frontline workers

On April 24, there was a press release from the Humboldt Joint Information Center stating that,
"A COVID-19 community testing site, provided by the State of California Testing Task Force in conjunction with OptumServe, is slated to open in Eureka and is estimated to be fully operational for the public in the next one to two weeks."

State Senator Mike McGuire shared some more information.

"Starting this week, the state will begin expanding testing in communities, with a focus on rural centers. One of the first state sponsored sites will be in Humboldt County. Testing in Humboldt will first be focused on frontline workers: Hospital personnel (nurses, LVNs, docs, etc) along with nursing home staff and skilled nursing facility teams. The program will then be expanded from there (details will come from the County on this). Grateful for the partnership between the County of Humboldt Health & Human Services Dept and the CA Dept. of Public Health. 100% teamwork. More sites - in other counties - will be introduced over the next few weeks."
