Methanol lab discovered during structure fire response
On April 28, 2020, at about 1:42 p.m., deputies with the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET) were dispatched to a residence on the 1400 block of Splinter Lane in Bayside to investigate an illegal methanol lab.
Firefighters from the Arcata Fire District located the lab while responding to a fire at the residence and requested deputy assistance.
MET deputies obtained a warrant to search the property. During their search, deputies located over 15 pounds of concentrated cannabis and lab equipment consistent with a methanol lab.
No arrests were made during the service of the warrant. The case will be forwarded to the DA’s Office for review.
The cause of the fire is under investigation
