Special counsel appointed for the limited purpose of discussing the potential conflict(s) raised in motion to disqualify Michael Acosta




Setting of preliminary hearing and status of two motions filed by the District Attorney was rescheduled for April 22. It was continued again to April 28.

One motion was to disqualify convicted human trafficker David Anderson's attorney, Mr. Michael Acosta. The other motion is to submit sealed documents.

Twice, Mr. Acosta has failed to show up for the hearing. Today, he was present.  He is Anderson's attorney, for now.

May 19 is confirmation of counsel. Deputy Conflict Counsel April Van Dyke was appointed as special counsel.

Special counsel was appointed by Judge Christopher Wilson for the limited purpose of discussing the potential conflict(s) raised in the pleadings filed in connection w/ motion to disqualify Mr. Acosta.

Anderson withdrew his time waiver today.  Preliminary hearing is on June 8.
