John Chiv: Convicted felon had 38 cases in 2021, his recent 2023 case has 12 counts and a special allegation

I stopped covering Wayne Graham after his 38th arrest in May 2021 because he kept getting probation despite all these arrests. It is a waste of time getting a new booking photo. In his llatest 2023 case has 12 counts and a special allegation.

Graham was arraigned on this case yesterday. Trial confirmation is 11/28 and jury trial on 12/4.

Graham was arraigned on the complaint on 9/14. He waived preliminary hearing. There was a motion to increase his bail. It was granted. Defense has been arguing for bail reduction since. The Public Defender's office is doing additional research regarding release and will calendar a date when they have that information.

10/30: OR/bail continued on 10/23 & 10/25. Today reduction for bail was scheduled before Judge Joyce Hinrichs who denied release and bail remains as set. Trial confirmation on 11/28; jury trial on 12/4.

11/28: People make offer which involves a prison sentence, trial estimate is 5 days.

12/4: Jury trial continued by court to 12/5 because Deputy Public Defender Ben Mclaughlin is sick; unlikely to be back before 12/6 & also no courtroom available.

12/6: Jury trial continued because Mr. McLaughlin still not back. Trial assignment on 12/8; jury trial 12/11.
