Brandon Michael Shorey was arrested yesterday by Arcata Police Department for PC 261(a)(2) forcible rape, PC 245(a)(1) assault with a deadly weapon, PC 273.5(a) corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant, and PC 287(c)(2)(a) sodomy.
Arraignment on 11/1 was continued because Shorey refused to appear. Bail was set at $750,000. Shorey was arraigned on 11/2, Public Defender appointed, a criminal protective order was served on Shorey in court. OR/bail hearing is on 11/6; preliminary hearing is on 11/14.
11/6: OR and supervised release denied by Retired Judge Christopher Wilson. Time estimate for preliminary hearing for both cases is 3 to 4 hours.
