Forcible rape and domestic violence suspect Stephen Steed is now charged with 11 counts. On 10/23, defense motion to continue and DA motion to file amended complaint was granted by Judge Kaleb Cockrum. Preliminary hearing was continued for setting and arraignment on amended complaint was continued to 11/8.
The alleged victim in this case and Steed share children. There is an ongoing family law case between the two parties.
11/8: Setting of preliminary hearing and arraignment on amended complaint continued to 11/15.
11/15: Steed arraigned on amended complaint and served with criminal protective order. Ms. Andrea Sullivan is representing the alleged victim and both were in court. Preliminary hearing is on 1/31/24.
1/31/24: Held to answer on all counts after preliminary hearing. Arraignment on information on 2/15.
2/15: Ms. Kathleen Bryson relieved. Conflict Counsel appointed. People request remand, Judge Cockrum allowed Steed to remain out of custody on bond until OR/bail hearing on 2/22. Trial confirmation on 3/25; jury trial on 4/8.
2/22: Retired Judge Marilyn Miles denies People request for remand. Steed remains out of custody on bond. Trial confirmation on 3/25; jury trial on 4/8.
3/25: Motion to continue filed by Conflict Counsel granted. 4/8 date vacated. Trial confirmation on 6/4; jury trial on 6/17.
6/4/24: Trial assignment on 6/14; jury trial for
6/17 confirmed.
6/14: Defense requests continuance. Trial confirmation on 7/1; jury trial 7/8.
