Licensed hunter since 10, Rex Bohn says, "I feel like a merchant of death. "

 

I started watching this around 12:42 today as Third District Supervisor Mike Wilson was commenting on this item. Supervisor Wilson said he didn't have enough information and wasn't comfortable making an appointment. "Someone texted me," he said. Then he asked if this was just rumor or," if we are promoting firearms as auction items?"

Interim County Counsel Scott Miles' said "the RCRC delegate was acting as the County delegate" and there could be a discussion.

"The purpose of the firearm is to shoot people," said Supervisor Wilson. He went on to insinuate that how could the person not know this would be controversial and there are other items to auction.

After Supervisor Wilson said he wasn't comfortable making the appointment today, Second District Supervisor Michelle Bushnell said," How would you like to investigate?"

Supervisor Wilson responded, "If a member was present at event," they can explain.

First District Supervisor Rex Bohn then admitted he was there and went off on his defensive rant, I stopped watching around 12:50 because I couldn't listen to Rex anymore. Even before Rex spoke, I knew who they were talking about from his body language. The comments were about a firearm auctioned off in a Humboldt County basket at RCRC. Rex was pissy that he didn't get anointed for another term and acted offended because this was brought up at a public government meeting.

"I feel like I am a merchant of death," said Rex. "I donate 60 firearms a year at auctions. " Then he went on to say he donates and auctions wine tasting, "I guess I am a proponent of drunk driving."

"This is a perfectly designed basket which comes from Humboldt County," said Rex. "If you want me to promise I will never sell a gun again, I will do that. I was a licensed hunter since I was 10 years old."

"I know it is election year, let's dirty up everything," said Rex. After this he listed off his exploits; I mean auction resume and reminded us again how much he does. 💤 I was woken up by his next statement. Rex says he won the Smith & Wesson Cerakote in a raffle. "I got it, I didn't want that, I traded it in for a pistol." 

Rex, you claim you represented Humboldt well at RCRC. For whom? Yourself, your son, your buddies, the gun totin huntin members of Humboldt. That maybe your base. It isn't all of Humboldt. You were there to represent Humboldt County. Someone snitched on you. Not fair but isn't that the Humboldt way of doing business you good ole boys prefer.

You can watch the entire segment on video later including Rex's snark, defensiveness and using the BOS meeting as yet another chance for free campaigning, dissing anyone criticizing him. Apparently getting his ego fed from his sycophants and self bragging is not enough. The good ole boy sweatshirt he mentioned would have made the perfect clown costume and act complete. 

The version you may read in other local media supported by Rex, the County and his buddies flush with ads may or may not cover it now. Typically when I post in advance & call them out, there is coverage and they can't give Rex a pass as usual because it would be obvious. Watch the video, have your own opinion, it can be different and that is okay. Unlike Rex and the good ole boys, I feel democracy and diversity is good.

I have some emails from the County that do relate to this discussion. When I looked at them on October 6, I didn't feel there was enough there to publish. Given Rex's comments and this item today, I am doing a separate post. I believe people can make up their own mind. 

This note is to the good ole boy anonymous and not anonymous emails & constant atracks in the last few days. If nothing else, you all are predictable. This harrassment, intimidation follows a pattern. Leaving this for you is waste of time because you haven't changed in decades.

If you really think, no one is paying attention and I wasnt effective, you wouldnt react, you wouldnt send multiple emails, and you could counter facts with evidence. Instead you clowns, you hurl out the same insults from decades ago. Some of you are stupid leaving a trail of documentation and intimidation. If you really believe what you claim, then you would just leave me alone? 

Unlike most of you, I dont whisper behind people's backs, I use my name, I say it to your face and on this blog. You nasty gossipy bullies dont get journalism, watchdog journalism, transparency but do know how to throw a fit because your tired old tactics from the past arent working, you are losing control and actually have people speaking up and challenging you. I feel  whether this blog is here or not, there are enough people standing up and speaking up so I am not worried about what irrelevant bullies think. I am out in the community and get feedback outside your bubble. The people I speak to vote, they know who they can trust, they are watching, they hear. Like most people, they know and will vote in their best interest. 

Unlike Rex and all you good ole boys and gals who make a living guffawing and hi fiving and sitting around earning money because you have the monopoly and connections,  the rest of us have to work and earn what we make despite the challenges of the good ole boy system. 

Dirty it up during election year? Rex as tempting as it is to go into the many layers, examples and hypocrisy of that statement, there isn't enough time. Anyone who has lived in Humboldt for a decade or two or more already know how Humboldt works. In fact, they just need to have been here during the last election.
