Attorneys, witnesses admonished; jurors told not to speculate about issues in the courtroom

27 year old assault suspect Riley Kai ClarkWalkner who has a criminal recird, several other charges in his 2023 case and a violation of probation case trailing rejected the People's offer and took his case to trial.

Deputy District Attorney Emily Norgaard is the prosecutor on this case. Deputy Public Defender David Nims is Clarkwalkner's attorney.

The jurors are finally deliberating. In the six days which includes jury selection, opening astatements, evidence, closing arguments and deliberation, there was more drama than a soap opera.

On 10/17, People's witness Tracy Gardner spoke to jurors; Ms. Norgaard disclosed Judge Steven Steward; Deputy DA Norgasrd and Gardner were admonished. On 10/18, defense in their opening  inferred people were untruthful and spoke to Timothy Ritchie outside presence of an investigator, Attorneys & judge have sidebar and defense moves on from that issue. Later, Judge Steward tells jurors not to speculate on about issues in the courtroom.

Mr. Nims just seems to be throwing out motions to see what sticks. His Batson Wheeler motion regarding peremptory challenges was denied during jury selection. On 10/19, defense motion to dismiss due to lack of evidence was denied.

Some of the court minutes are in the previous coverage. The rest are included in this post.
