Rhamy refused to come to court for her own preliminary hearing, defense witness pleaded the fifth and her bail was significantly reduced

A lot more happened yesterday at 20 year homicide suspect, Destinee Rhamy's preliminary hearing. There were developments  before the hearing.  I have regularly covered her case from her arrest and waited to do this post to give readers a more complete picture and include court minutes. With a lot of news daily and several court cases daily, live coverage needs to be prioritized because readers are saturated and some news is more relevant to them.

Before the preliminary hearing, on on 10/6 Deputy District Roger Rees and Deputy Public Defender David Nims met with Judge Joyce Hinrichs for an intervention. No resolution. On 10/9, people disqualified Judge Kelly Neel and there was pre trial conference with Judge Christopher Wilson. Finally, the preliminary hearing was sent to Judge Kaleb Cockrum.

Rhamy refused to come to court for her own preliminary hearing after the lunch break, a defense witness pleaded the fifth, she was held to answer to a lesser charge and her bail was reduced from $750,000 to $130,000. A hearing on OR bail scheduled for  yesterday was continued to 10/12. The next court date is 10/24 for arraignment on information and an in camera hearing on behavioral health records.

10/10 Preliminary hearing court minutes:

10/12: Instead of OR bail, attorneys met with a judge for intervention. The OR bail hearing was continued to 10/24 by defense since they are seeking mental health diversion.
