Convicted felon and attemped murder suspect James Atkins preliminary hearing today did not proceed today. With a new attorney being appointed, I knew the preliminary could not and would not proceed and there would be an oral motion to continue by defense. There was and Judge Christopher Wilson granted it for good cause.
On 9/29 there was an order relieving Public Defender who declared conflict on 9/27. Today, Ms. Andrea Sullivan was appointed to represent Atkins. Setting of preliminary hearing is scheduled for 10/30.
10/30: Setting of preliminary hearing continued to 11/29.
11/29: People state offer. Preliminary hearing scheduled for 2/8/24; time estimate one day.
