Man with 37 cases found guilty of assault with a deadly weapon in most recent case

Verdict came in for Courtroom 3 jury trial for Wayne Graham who was charged with 245 (a) (1), assault with a deadly weapon. The jury of jury of four men and 8 women found Graham guilty of that charge.

Graham has 37 cases in the system, not all are criminal. Graham had been out of custody. After the verdict, he was booked into the jail.

Graham was also charged with a special allegation of having prior felony convictions.

Sentencing is on 2/20; ruling on the special allegation scheduled at the same time.

Graham was found guilty of PC 245 (a) (1) but the trial for prior felony convictions was bifurcated. This makes him ineligible for probation per PC 1203(e)4.

Instead of listening to his attorney, Graham insisted on testifying, got up on the stand and confessed to the crime. Saying I hit her will guarantee a conviction.

Deputy District Attorney Tobias Hasler is the prosecutor. Ms. Andrea Sullivan was appointed as Graham's defense attorney since public defenders had conflict of interest.
