Whited has already been to the State Hospital, was sent back and this 2019 case has dragged on with continuances

 

Opera Alley murder suspect Connor Whited had trial confirmation and status of Dr. Renouf's report scheduled for September 15 was continued to 10/26.

Whited has already been to the State Hospital, was sent back and this 2019 case has dragged on with continuances. Sometimes updates are neccessary even if there is a continuance. However, Dr. Renouf has always been busy and reports take forever. Time for the Board of Supervisors, Humboldt Courts and attorneys to find other options because jail beds get tied up and the incompetent/insanity/evaluation defense is just backlogging cases and unfair to victims and defendants.

Defense made an oral motion to continue which was granted because there was no objection by People. The jury trial for 10/24 was vacated and rescheduled for 11/14.

Whited's attorney is Mr. Joe Judge. Deputy District Attorney Luke Bernthal is the prosecutor for the case.

10/26: Another continuance to 11/1, case continued for trial setting on 12/8. Jury trial scheduled for 11/14 vacated.

12/8: Trial setting continued by defense to 12/15. Matter expected to resolve.

12/15: Trial setting continued to 12/20 by defense; case not resolved yet. Discussion regarding offers and youth offender program

12/20: Matter to resolve on 12/22.

12/22. Plea resolves case.
