Jeff Tsarnas' arraignment continued due to new attorney and amount of discovery

Jeff Tsarnas was scheduled to be arraigned on information today. His attorney, Mr. Neal Sanders said that Tsarnas "cannot retain me because he has limited income."

Conflict Counsel's office was appointed by Judge Lawrence Killoran. Deputy Conflict Counsel April Van Dyke requested arraignment be continued for 60 days "due to the amount of discovery I have to review." That date is March 5.

For the jury trial, the District Attorney has added a special allegation to the hit and run charge. Ms. Van Dyke entered a demurrer to the special allegation.

Since neither the victim Marie Kelly or her attorney,Mr. Patrik Griego, were in court, Deputy District Attorney Roger Rees did not object to arraignment being continued.
