Three police cars, 2 blocking Opera Alley

Opera alley is blocked off. Sgt. Shawn Sopoagais on scene.

They have been out there a while, since at least 6:15, according to people in the area. I am updating this post live.

EPD Senior Det. Ron Harpham just walked into the crime scene. Evidence tech on scene. Crime tape securing area.

I just spoke with EPD Chief Steve Watson. He has not been briefed yet. EPD is searching the dumpsters and area. Evidence tech just picked up a beer can, with gloves and secured it in a brown paper bag.

I was given a brief synopsis by EPD Sgt Hill. EPD is investigating an assault. " We believe it occurred in the alley. Our criminal investigation section is on scene and the victim is at St. Joes." Press release will be released sometime today.

No other media on scene as of 7:50 a.m. Area cleared shortly after.
