Property in Humboldt has been vetted for sexually violent predator Joshua Cooley

Sexually violent predator Joshua Cooley had an outpatient  status hearing scheduled this morning September 17. At the last court hearing, the only potential lead to place Cooley was in Humboldt.

Public hearing regarding the Humboldt County placement has been scheduled for November 8 at 8:30 in Courtroom 1. Time estimate 2 hours.

Location was not given in open court. It will be provided to the attorneys and State Hospital.

District Attorney Maggie Fleming was in court for the calendar.  Deputy District Attorney Stacey Eads appeared for the People. Conflict Counsel Supervising Attorney Meagan O'Connell appeared on behalf of Cooley.

Eureka Police Department Captain Brian Stephens was in court. Representatives from  Liberty Healthcare including Rafael Loya were present. Cooley's grandparents were there, as usual.

Before court, Loya asked Ms. Eads if there will be the same outrage and reaction from community at the public hearing for the proposed location.

Once again, no other media or community members were present.
