"Should this project happen and Humboldt Bay is likely utilized for services, the benefit to all will likely be similar to being in the middle of the California Gold Rush for Humboldt County. "

"The Humboldt Bay Harbor, Recreation and Conservation District will receive bids until 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 1, 2019, for the Lease of Redwood Marine Terminal I.

The Port is soliciting proposals for the development, use, and occupancy of Redwood Marine Terminal I. The long-term goal for the terminal is to repurpose the area into a Multipurpose Marine Terminal to support the proposed offshore wind energy development which is proposed by the federal Bureau of Offshore Energy Management (BOEM) 30 miles offshore of Humboldt Bay and other maritime industries."

Humboldt Bay Harbor, Recreation and Conservation District  Commissioner Larry Doss told me, "Should this BOEM lease be opened and awarded, it could result in hundreds of millions of dollars in infrastructure to be built at Redwood Marine Terminal One and or other locations along the bay to construct and maintain the turbines floating 30 miles off our coast."

"This investment comes with a large labor intensive demand for construction and support services to the construction and maintenance of this endeavor.  Should this project happen and Humboldt Bay is likely utilized for services, the benefit to all will likely be similar to being in the middle of the California Gold Rush for Humboldt County.   It is not a done deal and we need to be positive about this development for North West California."
