Volunteering to maintain a garden involves more than pruning, its picking up trash that does not end up in the Bay

For almost 10 years, former Councilmember Marian Brady and her friend Ann maintain this garden on 5th Street and are there every week. This involves watering, pruning, weeding and sweeping and picking up trash.



Right before I took this photo, Marian was sweeping before it rained so the cigarette butts would not end up in the gutters and storm drains and eventually into the Bay. She hopes it will encourage property owners who dont maintain their properties to do the same.
