Eddy Alexander hires Emily Kirsch as local liaison
Eddy Alexander, the full-service marketing and communications agency hired by the City of Eureka to take over management of the city’s branding and tourism marketing investments, announced today that they have hired a full-time, local liaison.
Emily Kirsch formally joined the team on Tuesday Sept. 2, 2019.
Kirsch brings thirteen years of highly relevant redwood coast marketing experience to her new role. In her former position at Humboldt State University, she was responsible for marketing the beauty and assets of California's Redwood Coast to international partners, students, and their families. Kirsch has also served as a successful Digital Community Manager for a national athletic brand which relies heavily on advanced marketing techniques for strategic growth and target audience engagement.
“Emily is a great fit. She knows the area well and understands strategic place-based and community marketing. Match this with her experience in major program operations and budget management… it’s really a perfect combination,” Eddy Alexander’s Tourism Marketing General Manager Bob Gilbert said.
“Her proven interpersonal community leadership experience will be a tremendous asset to the City of Eureka and to the Eddy Alexander team at large.”
Kirsch holds a bachelor’s degree from Humboldt State University, a master’s degree from SIT, and will accept her Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities next spring.
“We are really excited to welcome Emily to the team,” Eddy Alexander President and Chief Strategist Jennifer Eddy said. “While we had many strong applicants, her highly relevant experience, proven professional and academic credentials, and demonstrated passion for California’s Redwood Coast all made her a clear choice for this important role.”
In the coming weeks, Kirsch will be meeting with community leaders, tourism industry representatives, and city officials as she focuses on helping the Eddy Alexander team analyze, leverage, and apply community input into the branding process. Moving forward, she will support both the development and implementation of the city’s new identity system as well as the city’s new earned and paid media promotional strategies.
“I joined the Eddy Alexander team to mobilize the passion I have for our community and local area. I am incredibly excited to have the opportunity to help guide Eureka’s new brand image so that it reflects our community’s core values,” Kirsch said. “To get to put my focus, energy, and professional talents to work to help raise the quality of life in our community is a wonderful honor.”
