Convicted sex offender threatened St. Bernard's employee, was also yelling and acting erractically at Alice Birney

This afternoon convicted sex offender Robert Munts had an OR/bail in one case which was for his August 26 arrest. He was also arraigned today on a second case for his August 15 arrest.

On July 22, Munts showed up at Alice Birney school yelling erratically for 20 minutes.  Employees called the police and when they arrived, Munts appeared to be under the influence of meth.

On August 22, Munts was at St. Bernard's on the football field. He was acting erratically. Munts was told to leave by employees. Munts returned to St. Bernard's on August 26 and threatened to kill employee Gregory Horn when he was asked to leave.

After listening to Deputy District Attorney Jessica Watson and Deputy Conflict Counsel Jessica Bennett, based on his own experience with Munts, Judge Christopher Wilson denied OR and supervised release but said he was open to supervised release under certain conditions. Munts would have to be on mandatory electronic monitoringand stay away from local schools.

After listening to Ms. Watson, Judge Wilson said, "That sounds like Mr. Munts." Judge Wilson mentioned Munts chronic explosive outburts and hanging outside the courthouse.

Munts laughed as Judge Wilson said his criminal history was too large for the DOJ to transmit. Check my previous posts on the number of Munts local criminal cases.

Through Ms. Bennett, Munts had the audacity to suggest he would go to the Betty Chinn Center and that his word should be enough that he would not use controlled substances. Munts was arrested twice just this month.  Everyone familiar with his behavior inside and outside the Courthouse knows that Munts is full of it.

Preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9/13 in both cases.
