John Chiv: Ray Christie attorney no show, people motion to continue granted

Ray Christie attorneys a no show. People's motion granted. Travis Mendes is not the Courtroom 3 bailiff today. Joe Manni attended this hearing for Christie but never attends his own hearings for his lawsuit against the Alexandre Family Farm LLC.

Darrell Christie, Mario Avelar are at every hearing. Manni has missed one hearing. At every hearing, they talk while court is in session, leave surprised after the hearing because that gotcha moment they want never happens.

This is Humboldt. More egregious cases of injustice and wrongdoing never see closure or accountability. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than to have have evil in Humboldt accountable. Not everyone has the money to hire the Larson Law Firm and drag out their case until everyone involved is worn out.

Judges and jurors can see through the difference between facts, evidence vs Humboldt ranching drama and bs. This case has dragged on since 2018. Like a parasite, this case drains resources, energy and is seeped with negativity.

This should have been a civil case and not a criminal case. Then endless case management conferences can be held, a settlement reached and juror time and court resources won't be wasted on the soap opera of "As the Humboldt Rancher Drama Turns."

This case is cursed. A black hole that should have concluded with the first trial. So many screwups including HCSO deputy Travis Mendes, the state and federal agents who trusted HCSO and sloppy HCSO evidence gathering, the first prosecutor Adrian Kamada and Christie's two attorneys, Ken Bareilles and John Cogorno.

Some of Travis Mendes butthurt deputy friends who are pissed at me can get over themselves. It isn't my fault that the raids were conducted poorly and Travis Mendes handling of evidence gavr Christie lawyers issues to raise and the defense expert decimated his credibility.

Sadly, a lot of experienced deputies have left and the result is HCSO is staffing the court and field with whoever they have left. Some of these deputies had no issues with me before my coverage on the Christie case. Had Travis Mendes done his job properly, this case would have concluded by now. The rest of the decent deputies bear the brunt of overbearing yokels with a badge.

Judge Elvine-Kreis said had any of Christie''s attorney/associates attended, the outcome could have been different. He also said it is not his job to manage the law firm. This was in response to court clerk Matt asking if he should call the Larson Law firm.

10:22 update: Technical issue with court prevented Christie attorneys from appearing this morning. See new post. Hearing will take place again at 1:30. Maybe Judge Elvine-Kreis should have let Matt call defense and save everyone time.
